Ho’o Lokahi means “to bring about balance” in Hawaiian. A great example of this is to properly identify, diagnose and treat hormonal imbalances.
Common examples include hypothyroidism, premenstrual syndrome, menopausal symptoms, testosterone deficiency, mood disorders and adrenal hormone imbalances.

Hormonal imbalances can occur for a variety of reasons, including stress, nutritional deficiencies, lack of exercise, gut dysfunction, environmental toxins, and genetic factors. These imbalances can lead to a range of symptoms including:

    Fatigue
    Weight gain or weight loss
    Mood swings, depression, or anxiety
    Irregular periods
    Infertility
    Premenstrual syndrome
    Hair loss or hair growth
    Changes in body temperature
    Changes in libido
    Headaches
    Insomnia or poor sleep quality
    Hot flashes
    Vaginal dryness

Treatment will vary depending on the underlying cause of the hormonal imbalance and may include diet or lifestyle changes, dietary supplements, botanical medicine, or hormonal therapy.

Testing for hormone levels is usually performed on blood and urine samples.
