The majority of patients with cancer choose our services in combination with conventional cancer treatment. Naturopathic medicine prevents or alleviates the side effects of conventional treatments, while at the same time enhancing their efficacy. Naturopathic therapies are also directed toward strengthening the immune response to cancer.

Dr. Traub is board certified in naturopathic oncology by the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology (ABNO), and is a member of the ABNO Board of Medical Examiners. For more information about ABNO and the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians, see www.oncanp.org.

In 2015 two naturopathic medical colleges, the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine and Bastyr University, partnered to develop a naturopathic oncology clinical research site consortium consisting of 12 North American clinics that provide cutting edge naturopathic oncology, typically complementary to standard conventional therapies to treat patients with advanced cancer. The Canadian/U.S. Integrative Oncology Study (CUSIOS) began enrolling and following 398 advanced cancer patients receiving care in North American advanced naturopathic oncology clinics. The goal of this study was to obtain 3-year survival data on patients receiving advanced naturopathic oncology treatments and compare to U.S. SEER survival outcomes (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT02494037). Dr. Traub’s clinic was one of the 12 participating in this study.

Illnesses Treated and Best Responders

All cancers are treated at Ho’o Lokahi. Depending on the stage of cancer: breast cancer, prostate cancer, melanoma, and lymphoma respond well to naturopathic oncological interventions.

Treatment Programs

Based on a comprehensive medical history, Dr. Traub designs a personalized treatment protocol specific for the type and stage of cancer, its unique genetics, the specific chemotherapeutic agents or radiotherapy the patient may be receiving, and the individual aspects of the patient and their health.

Various natural therapies include: dietary recommendations, exercise, stress management, nutritional and herbal supplements, homeopathy, high dose intravenous vitamin C and other IV treatments, detoxification, and psychospiritual support.

Protocols are extensively researched and largely based on published studies found in mainstream medical and scientific journals. The purpose of the treatment plan is to:

Enhance the effectiveness of chemotherapy and radiotherapy
Decrease the toxicity and side effects of conventional treatment
Destroy cancer cells and/or inhibit their growth
Strengthen the immune response to cancer
    Reduce pain and other discomforts
    Decrease the risk of recurrence
    Reduce cancer-associated stress
    Develop a survivor mentality

Dr. Traub works in close collaboration with oncologists and makes referrals to other specialists as necessary.

Good Faith Estimate Disclosure: you have the right to receive a “good faith estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, healthcare providers need to give patients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of their bill for medical items and services.
